When we announced our private Google Glass beta last year, we had a very small number of invites available. Many of you requested a spot, but we unfortunately were not able to accommodate all the requests we wanted to.
Today we are happy to announce that we’ve opened the beta and our personalized video news experience is now available to anyone with Glass. Get it now.
We’re still in a beta, so you will notice a few things are different from our tablet and mobile versions. There are only a few channels, but we’ve partnered with best in the business to bring you an awesome experience. Sky News is our first partner in the UK and PBS Newshour in the US. We’ll be working hard to bring you even more content in the future.
“We’re excited to be experimenting with Watchup in the field of wearables. This is another example of Sky’s commitment to innovating with exciting new customer experiences,” said Hilary Perchard, Sky’s Vice President of Business Development, who’s also presenting at the TVOT show in the panel The Future of the Living Room at 1:20 pm PDT on Wednesday June 11th.
CEO Adriano Farano will make the announcement today at The TV of Tomorrow Show in San Francisco at 3:35 pm. He is speaking on the at A Screen on Your Head: Wearable Technology and the Future of Video. The panel will take place in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, screening room.
We’ve spent the last year learning from our users and listening to Explorer feedback and though we’ve learned a lot we can always learn more. Glass itself is highly experimental and we’re excited to be developing a news tool that can potentially reinvent how we receive information.
